could be, but I doubt every porn actress would give up a $1000/hour porn-job for a $1000/hour Hollywood-job. If the money were the same for both jobs, I know some girls who'd go to Chatsworth for sex, and other girls who'd move to Hollywood for absolution from breast-fearful people like papercut, have2cits, and the king.
On the other hand, the porn-commentators aren't getting paid to have sex, an activity normal people enjoy more than muckraking. To be fair, not all porn-commentary is yellow. I respect porn-commentators for occasionally having helped prevent HIV outbreaks, and for educating naive people about the unfortunate future in store for anyone who makes a habit of hard drugs. But constuctive commentary is rare, so Katja's question about the self-esteem of career porn-commentators is worthwhile.

The more I read this thread, the more it reminds me of the bit in Poltergeist where the kid falls into the swimming pool full of dead Native Americans and the rotten corpses are grasping, reaching and pulling the kid under. I think this is a suitable analogy for the porn industry in 2007. I should also add

I've always argued that porn would be - or at least could be, depending on who you're working with - much less exploitative than, say, flipping burgers at McD's. I mean, have you ever worked in one of those places? Or being in sales. I mean, really - a dedicated salesman will kiss your ass, figuratively, to make that sale. Is there something inherently more unpleasant about LITERALLY kissing ass for a paycheck? Seems more honest, to me.

I could make you a whole long list about differences between Europeans and Americans. For example I always thought Americans show better hospitality and I always was welcome every place I went all across the country. People welcome you with open arms where Germans don't bother to talk to you if they don't know you...
I love American sense of costumer service where they treat you like shit in Germany even if you end up spending your money there.
American bank system is stuck in the stone ages, in Germany I was able to wire money internationally without having to fill out long ass forms and paying a huge fee...
Americans have a better sense of political correctness. They are used to the fact that there are many different people from different backgrounds living in the country. If you're not like everyone else in Germany you're just done.

Well, yes, actually. That was the idea behind the picture and a reference to your take-no-bullshit entrance to XPT.
Translators may not be perfect, neither is my typing, but it wasn't that difficult to type 'asshole' which got me 'Arsch'. It would have been easy enough to post pix of your gaping asshole with that title but nowhere near as fun or creative. But I am more than happy to keep it simple and stick to Whore/Faggot/Tranny/Basement/Lackwood jokes.

I remember watching commentary to the movie Hostel and Quentin Tarantino was talking about nudity in general US films versus eurpoean films and how its done differently - in US films nudity usually occurs during the sex scene wheras in european films during the sex scene they are likely to be fully clothed but then they show you full nudity when they are going to the toilet the next morning :P

Ceara, the reference to the hand that feeds her concerned the porn-buying public, not the industry itself. She made a rather sweeping generalization toward American attitudes about sex that I think are entirely inaccurate outside the religious right.
