I don't think its fair to ask pornlaw to weigh in on this one as he deserves to get paid for his work. But 2257 states in pertinent part:

(A)(2) is produced in whole or in part with materials which have been mailed or shipped in interstate or foreign commerce, or is shipped or transported or is intended for shipment or transportation in interstate or foreign commercee

Based on this section I think it is possible that 2257 does not apply to private films. In fact, the federal government does not have jurisdiction to regulate unless goods are going interstate (Interstate Commerce Clause).

But don't take my word for it, I'm typing with one hand.
