Spybot is very good, but you should always have two anti-spyware progs. I suggest adding Ad-Aware SE Personal. Other software you might consider are Zone Alarm (personal firewall), VTE (anti-virus) and Dr. WEB Cure It! (anti-virus and spyware). I'm currently running the latter two to see if they are improvements over what I'm already running.

Add DupDetector: "Dup Detector finds duplicate and near duplicate images by opening and reading image pixel data."
This is different than the aforementioned CloneSpy which finds exactly identical images (and videos) by comparing their file checksums.

However, not sure it's completely free based on the sites I've Googled...
Reminds me, somewhat, of another thingy for Firefox called DownloadThemAll:
"DownThemAll is fast, reliable and easy-to-use! It lets you download all the links or images contained in a webpage and much more: you can refine your downloads by fully customizable criteria to get only what you really want!"
I use it heavily on MP3 blogs which may feature a dozen or so separate MP3 links. I can customize the filter to only get ".mp3" files, and, bingo, single-click downloading of concerts from rbally.

Yes, it's freeware (Windows only). Here's the download link to Image Grabber II. Be advised though that the download site has a daily bandwidth limit.

I ripped some kewl GIF's off the net, but I want to resize them for avatars. How do I go about doing so, but maintaining the animated aspects of the file? Corel PSP-X apparently isn't capable of this.

Use Irfanview to breakdown the animated gif (into a folder of your choosing), then also use Irfanview to shrink (somewhat) the pictures, than use unFreez to renanimate the gifs...

AVG is free and is not a system hog. It does take a heck of a long time to scan though.
Norton's takes forever these days, too. I bought a copy of 2007, and the motherfucker takes over an hour to scan my system (approx. 75 mins), where my older version only took 45 to scan everything.

I don't have this problem (or I really haven't noticed it).
Here are my settings: Output file type = MPEG-1; Frame Rate = 30, Bitrate = 1150; "Use Constant Bitrate" is checked.
Sounds like a great program...but it freezes every time I try to join video files.
EDIT: OK, I got it to work and it is a great program. But if you have a slower computer, you may run into some problems.

who the fuck downloads short pieces of movies and spends time on joining them together? I can see why a 12 year old would find that worth his horny while but an adult? no fucking way. i prefer people who pay for their porn buck hell knows if I wouldn't pick a dude who pirates whole movies over a dude who downloads short clips off the net.

Splitting large video files into smaller pieces that can be played independently of each other is a hold over from the days before highspeed internet access when people used to pay for their dial-up access by how much data they transferred. These days people who use premium usenet accounts still have a monthly transfer limit...an example would be 10 bucks a month to download 5 Gigs of data from the premium usenet provider's servers. Usually a still image is also posted with samples of snapshots from the movie with time stamps. This allows people to download the segments of the video clip they are interested in and ignoring the rest if they want and that saves them bandwidth to use for more content relevant to their own interests. Alot of videos and media that are distributed via the internet gets stated on usenet or IRC and using smaller pieces of autonomous data is just easier to move around and work with than larger complete files.

This is a spill over from my anime/hentai interests but if you download alot of video files then CCCP is nice to have installed as it pretty much eliminates the need to keep searching for codecs. Quote:

By browsing history do you mean the temp files and history left on your local machine, or are the ips you visit being tracked by a company router or something?
If the former there are tons of utilities built in to your browser to delete all that shit each time you close the browser. If you use Firefox, don't let it store passwords and don't let it never store passwords either, as it keeps a list of those sites as well- just hit "not now".
If your problem is the latter, then go to a site like www.proxytop.net and use one of those free proxy servers to browse through. Your company sees your connection to the proxy server, but not to the sites you visit from the proxy server.
What kind of trouble are you getting into, if you care to tell.
