Why can't people just watch a movie to have a good time, i watched 300 spartans the other night it was very dated and the fact that the rocks were authentic means nothing to me. The movie 300 looks very entertaining whether or not it is authentic and historically accurate ( which all in all can be debated being it was a couple thousand years ago- Herodotus being the primary resource I guess and who know how accurate he was). My tastes in movies are all over the place I like all kinds but the common point is that all the movies I like are out and out entertaining to me. The artistic merits, the message, the character studies involved all pale before the question - is this film amusing me. 300 looks very entertaining indeed but hey I have been disappointed before ( looking directly at you Lost In Translation).

If that's the kind of thing you enjoy moviewise then knock yourself out at the snack counter, brother. But don't expect me or anyone else to temper their opinions just because you value movies as nothing beyond mindless, formulaic, and pandering entertainment. As far as I'm concerned movies like this represent the hollow and souless bloat at the diseased heart of a desperate & dying Hollywood.
