It was too the effect that the sectarian killing within Iraq (and the wider pan-Arab world) right now is a purely Machiavellian situation, for us anyway. I certainly am disappointed with a great many aspects of the current admin, but to have these savages tied up slaughtering each other instead of us may be the historical saving grace for W's tack, however grotesque that may seem. I do feel awful for the innocents though, and they are the majority, but if they have an ounce of sense they'll realize the down payment for a free country is usually paid in blood, and will hopefully not abandon that end.
