Authorities evacuated a state office building in downtown Austin Wednesday after a suspicious powder was found in a letter sent to the governor's office.
David Bailey with the Austin Fire Department says nine workers from the mailroom where the letter was processed were quarantined until tests could be done on the powder.
Bailey said nobody showed any sign of illness. Authorities determined the powder wasn't dangerous to humans, but they will do further testing to determine what it is.
The mailroom is in the State Insurance Building, about one block from the Texas Capitol.
An aide says the letter had been sent to Gov. Rick Perry, who was at the Capitol and was never in any danger.
