This is science my friend, and a science that humanity is going to HAVE to come to terms with within the next few years. We already have developments happening that are faster than even Kurzweil's time tables suggest. Accelerating Change is real and happening and we ARE approaching a technological singularity. Read up on the subject, it is a fascinating branch of future studies. There are actually many government scientists who are avowed Transhumanists and Singularitarians.
