Here's a quote from his brief exchange with Aphrodite Jones:

Ok, Dr Lechter, in Silence of the Lambs, spoke of the "transformation, a fledgling killer about to be released..." Luke is clearly in the midst of such a transformation. The link between serial killers and Porn is an established fact, and Luke admits to that. Now he is admitting that he gets the same thrill reading about things like Murder. He's already got some of the tools/elements essential to this trade (White Van, Camera to snap trophy pictures, a woman named Holly who is the continued object of his obsession but can no longer have...)
Is this a cry for help from Luke, or is he really about to go Berkowitz on us and start showing up at porn sets with a .44 caliber enema for all starlets doing Anal that day?

Luke's already started - his attempts at killing off careers with his hideous photography is an example. In the Talmud they that teach that public embarassment of a person is equivalent to their murder. Thus, by this, Luke is a wonton serial killer on the loose.
I never heard of "Son of Sam" having an obsession with a woman he could not have ... unless that dog was a bitch. I would assume any woman - dead or alive - would be a woman he could not have.
If Porn & impossible unrequited profound obsessions are the link to the path of a serial killer, then I sadly believe most of ADP are far down the road to Sportswami-hood.
But, my friend now called HCee, the revelation is quite scary! What kind of fever did he get out of porn? Does this mean he's jacking off to the Brinks job, too?

Nice and humorous spelling catch!  Other than fried chicken, I've never eaten much of anything deep fried. Entire pizza, a box of Cap'n Crunch or a lb of pasta for lunch was more style. And hide the cookies!!

I'm with Burg. I think people who devour true crime material or spend hours in front of 'real CSI' shows are a hammer waiting to drop.
That visceral fascination with the destruction of life seems to me to be far more harmful than video footage of a girl being throatfucked.
And we could further discuss the way purveyors of 'true crime' materials juxtapose images of death with images of nudity, but I think Luke now realizes that he has a problem and should consult a psychiatric professional before his pathology takes real hold and pushes him to murder someone instead of just their image with his camera.

The link between what people ingest in the form of entertainment, via books, Television/Movies, and games is a well established causal force in the behavior people manifest. It is only logical...
When people watch porn, it makes them want to act out what they see (which most of the time they cant so they whack off, waiting for that rare opportunity when they can actually do the acts they have seen with a real live chick...) After watching a LOT of porn, however, much like booze or drugs, they lose the effect....the need to ACTUALLY act out the things seen becomes stronger, as that is the next 'step up/down'...since most Porn fans couldnt get laid to save their life, and dont have the money to buy a hooker and tip her to the extent that she will allow bareback anal sex with her cumfarting onto a 120 year old antique mirror, they do what is logical to fulfill this (hannibal lechter voiceover) "need that they now serve"....
They TAKE by force what they want...that is they stalk a hott young chick, hit her in the head with a pipe wrench or a Quizno's Roast Beef sandwich, and then they proceed to sodomize her, and then dump her in the woods or under a 105 freeway underpass in Inglewood.
It's all downhill from there...
*sidenote* That Hollywood Bank Of America Shootout that lasted 37 minutes, where the two bandits wore body armor and had 6 or 7 AK-47 assault rifles with 8,000 rounds of armor piercing ammo, did more to fuel the demand for today's SHOOT Em Up Video games than anything...and someone try and tell me that the two Bank Robbers were not influenced by the movie scene from Heat which came out 2 years before they tried the holdup.
The eyes are the doorway to the soul...and today's young girls who start seeing the most graphic porn on the internet by the time they are old enough to use the computer without mommy or daddy around, are sexualized and taught that PORN is cool and fun so that, Voila, Sasha grey is planning her porn career when she is 16-1/2, and hits the ground running the day she turns 18.
I think it was Gia who plopped that link to that myspace "swallow montage", even saying it was "hott"...yeah it was hott, but I guess everyone never bothered to realize that a bunch of 12, 13 or 14 year old kids probably saw that shit before it finally got deleted. I know what I am talking about...when I was 12 my grandfather owned a bookstore and turned a blind eye to me and my brother spending hours in the back reading hustler and penthouse (fuck playboy)...this was 1980 but still, pretty hardcore shit...fortunately, I became successful enough to indulge my predilections without having to resort to bludgeoning naive chicks in order to stick my dick in some holes. But I was robbed of my innocence by the penthouse Corrine Alphen Centerfold where she sticks her finger up her twat... at 13 I had a boner for 8 days and had to stay home from school...

if you're saying there's a link between violent movies and serial killers, or pornography and sexual criminals, then actually it's far from established. pscyhology has tried to show it for years, but for every bit of research claiming a correlation (it's never shown to be causal- very few things can be shown to be causal) there'll be something else published showing no correlation.
either way, i don't think it's logical- it seems equally logical to me that watching violent movies etc is a way of releasing aggresive tension in a safe and harmless fashion. if you look at the history of most serial killers, you'll find they have a background of forced supression of desire- and thus a need to act out- rather than any kind of literature or media indulgence.
although, there's a lot of different brain wirings involved, so what effects one person may have no effect on another. we can still fear for luke yet.
