That's funny, no I haven't heard of Cowboy Troy until now.
So... when Big & Rich signed him, did they make him go to a trailer park, and sing country in front of white people, to gain their approval? Did they make him carry around a watermelon, and hand out shirts that say "I Love Black Country Singers"?
If you didn't catch it, that's essentially what the white rappers had to do, except it was crackers they carried through the South Bronx, black people they rapped to, and they had "I Love White Rappers" shirts to hand out.
I'm really not trying to open up the racial (in)equality can of worms, but one black cowboy is a little different than what I was talking about.

Then they let him sing/rap in the hook of one of their songs. Then dude had the lead song for ESPN's College Game Day this year. From there he got the gig on CMT.

That's pretty cool actually. I have no real interest in country music, but I like hip-hop, among many other kinds of music, so i'm interested to hear some of his stuff.

Vodguy, think it was the idiot "white rapper" who thinks that the blacks have to accept him to be a "rapper". It's more like being a Greek bagel maker and being very proud that Jews preferred his bagels.
Though the "black country guy" is quite rare, when I lived in Nashville, the whites LOVED the country veteran Charlie Pride!!

1st episode wasn't bad...Serch went off on that one kat. This show got me thinking about some other white rappers that I've worked with in the past and they all have one thing in common. Their crews were already established. Lil Wyte - He's singed to 3 6 Mafia's label which has a P&D deal through us. We took him to Sound City and Eargazum CD's. The retailers loved him. Part because he was down with 3 6 Mafia. They figured if 36 has a white boy in their crew then he's got to be down. Paul Wall - Paul has been rapping for years. He used to push his mix tapes at Sharpstown Mall. Paul's also down with SwishaHouse and DJ Mike "5000" Watts. Again he's crew is deep (Slim Thug, Mike Jones, Lil Keke) So Paul get the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. He also makes grills for the rich and famous Fort Minor - These are some members of Linkin Park. Well really one member. But Linkin Park got it's street cred/cross over in to the urban market by working with the Jay-Z and The X-ecutioners. Even the Beastie's had an in with DefJam and Run DMC. Everlast was down with Ice-T before he went all House of Pain on our ass. Slim Shady had Dre. I'm guess a lot of these "white rappers" that made it have an in. Now, with that said once their in they must show and prove...but unlike Serch I don't believe it has to be to a black crowd but just to the buying public (Who evers left) that they belong. fuck that was long my bad btw, new Paul Wall in March.

You still watchin calm? I found this show this weekend and caught up with all but the first and pretty much am hooked...watching it now and goddamn Bushwick Bill is on that shit! I think it is compelling and funny and creative. word

I haven't watched it in a while. Last night they had this serious documentary on Child Sex Slavery in Cambodia; when I flipped through the channels, I saw a white rapper having a meltdown and being told to "step off!"

I think Shamrock is the most marketable rapper on the show. Cool thing is if they give the show a green light for next season you'll see much better artists/rappers.

these guys were just completely retarded in the "Rap Battles' in Eminem land...It was funny just seeing the look of bemusement after listening to the flailing white rappers and then the rap gladiator black rapper just evicerates the stunned looking white rapper. Shamrock especially looked deer in headlights... I was waiting for psycho annoyant Jus Rhymes to pull out a gun an do a few and then do himself. Hey Gypsy you actually rock that Persia Style in real life right?
