There once was the guy who decided to see if he could live in the world of ADT. So he took on the screen name of a man he hated and began posting. After 26 of mostly innocuous posts, he was deactivated. What I have here today a brief exchange of email between this poor unfortunate and someone called "Steph". The second thread in which he was posting was rudely locked. The moderator was condescending, rude and made unspecified accusations. Taking the advice of the site, he allowed his anger to cool, composed a polite protest and cited the moderator, Scipio, for not treating him as a neighbor and with respect. Quote:

I am a very new poster and my ID is RVitello.
I am writing in regard to the behavior of Moderator Scipio in the above thread.
I have waited a day so that I would not be over-influence by my anger.
Certainly there is no argument that the moderator was well within rights to close the thread since rain's complaints and thus my queries were not within the strict definination of Etiquette.
But the tone used and comments that were made by Scipio were out of line.
In cancelling the thread the moderator wrote:
"IF YOU KIDS hope to continue to be allowed to PLAY here, I'd suggest you learn a little bit of respect for the rules for the forum, and the mods' moderation."
I find the condescending tone demeaning and offensive. There was no reason to be so glib. It was obvious, though Rain & I were wrong, that we were passionate about our positions and statement. While it was not the correct forum for such a discussion insulting language was not appropriate or appriciated. And, making light of people passionate about their position can only incite anger. A person experienced with such confrontations should know to refrain from such aggitations.
Scipio than became cryptically insulting.

What does "doing themselves any favors?" even mean?
What kind of threat is it?
Is this acceptable to you?
Is this an appropriate "welcome"?
While engaging the moderators is not appropriate why does it make me rather questionable?
What am I suspected of?
All I can even imagine is ¿law efforcement?
I can't even being to understand transparent.
Transparent to show what?
That I tried to understand what Rain was unhappy about?
That I disagreed on the possible closure based upon a reference to some other forum?
Please explain?
What is Scipio even talking about?
I understand from his post that s/he has been a "mod" for a very long time, but that should not excuse this type of response.
If nothing else I got to vent about these issues.

Just so I’m clear - are you the same person who said he never buys porn only downloads it for free (ie stealing) on the internet? How much time should I spend dealing with someone who will never support our site and who in a few posts has already declared himself a high maintenance forum user?

You should give me the same courtesy as any other member of your community. I saw no requirement of being your customer to post comments.
Are you saying your etiquette is based on the amount of purchases made on your site?
I made a polite, well-written protest and you're saying that you can dismiss my concerns because you don't care for my porn collection methods??
Your rules state that if a poster had a problem with a moderator, it would be addressed if the person involved send a polite email outlining the complaint. Neither the poster of the rules nor Scipio's explanation of them in his post mentioned a minimum purchase.
The name of the site is "Adult DVD Talk" NOT "You Can Have an Opinion if You Buy Your DVDs Here".
Might I assume that a poster who expresses strong opinions not to your liking and has the ability to make them lucid and clear is classified "high maintenance"? I brings on memories of Stalin, and surely you don't mean to make such an allusion.
As far as I know this is the only problem I've had with a mod. I have had disagreements with Mia Rose, who I happen to know from elsewhere, and Kelly Wells. But, as you can see that has turned out fine.
Why so unwelcome? Why are you so suspicious of new users?
And, who says just because I live on RapidShare that I'm never going to buy a DVD again? Most of my porn is teen amateur - REAL AMATEUR - not Madison Monroe and Hailey Young called amateurs. Those are best downloaded for free.
By the way, if you've never taken Logic, you might not know that your argument is in the form of an invalid informal fallacy knows as "Ad Hominem" where one declines to address the points of the argument and instead attacks the person asking for a reply.
It is usually the resort of a person who knows that there is difficulty in making their own points, so you should refrain from its use to avoid being lumped into this category.

Do they expect everyone to purchase their pornography from them? Perhaps they haven't thought of all the many dozens if not more actually download porn and not order from ADT but just never say so. I've never ordered from ADT and never plan to. It makes more sense to just order direct or go to a damn store and get it. Will they ban me for saying that?

You did make it quite explicit over here that you intended to log in at ADT and try to get banned. Is it possible that they are used to this type of behavior, and that this is why they overreacted?
Some people like a nice, cozy environment where the mods are treated as benevolent dictators, protecting them from thoughtcrime. And part of living in a free country is accepting that free speech ends when you enter someone else's property. They have the right to expel anyone they want for any reason - that is the core of the right to property. And the core of a free society is our right to say "Fuck you, bitch! I chose to only associate with people who aren't afraid of open discussion."

It isn't psych, it's economics. I'm just trying to explain their "don't post unless you buy" ethos.
Why do people get so squeamish about capitalism? ADT fanbois spend money. In a free society, there should be a place where they can squee about their favorite whores. These are whores we are talking about, why the sudden self-righteousness about the fact that they expect to be paid?
Just be glad that you live in a society where people who want to knife fight in the monkey cage can also do so.

I don't. But 99% of "porn buyers" pay $9.95 for a movie in their hotel room, and watch it for an average of 7 minutes. It is the hardcore fans who spend most of the money, not the ones with an old feature with Sydnee Steele that they taped from the Spice Network one night while wifey was "working late".
And I respect you enough to know that you understand that if you expect them to sign up for your $29.95/month website, in order to get a chance to watch your "live webchats", much less pay $1500/hour for what they could get for $300 from a decent local stripper, then you had better maintain the 'fan' illusion.
