As for the inevitability of deaths sure something may happen, do something long enough you'll find it anywhere. Kids have died playing little league baseball.
The fact remains that MMA is very safe, especially today. People are better training to fight, refs are better trained to watch for injuries and sign a fighter cannot defend himself. Once that happens, no standing 8 count, the fight is finished.
Google boxing deaths and you can find hundreds of cases, google skiing deaths and you'll find the same. Try that with MMA which has hundreds of bouts in countless organizations all over the world.
