This is starting to look like it could become an even more tragic situation...

LOS ANGELES - Adult performer Mark Anthony, who is one of Darren James' closest friends, told AVN.com Friday he does not know his whereabouts and is attempting to find him.

James was diagnosed HIV-positive earlier this week. He and Anthony traveled to Brazil together in late March to shoot several hardcore sex scenes.

"I've been calling him and been going by his apartment. I went into
his apartment today, but no sign of him. I couldn't tell how long
he'd been gone. I'm getting worried," Anthony said. "He always
returns my phone calls. I've never had a problem getting a hold of
him. I'm sure he's taken it harder than anybody. Maybe he's just
taking some time to get himself together. Let's hope."

Anthony said the last time he spoke with James was on Monday, and "he
was pretty depressed."

Anthony continued, "I've known Darren for seven years and over that
time he's become one of my best friends. I'm very sad about this whole
situation that's going on and definitely I want to go on the record
saying Darren is a good guy. He doesn't drink. He doesn't do any
drugs. He's not gay and he doesn't do anything with transsexuals."

He continued, "What Darren and I always do, when we return from the trip, we always go in (to AIM Healthcare) and get a new test. He got back on the 16th and he went in that same day and re-tested. I was in Brazil a little longer and I tested on the 20th of March.

"Darren is as safe as anybody else. He even went in early this time to take a new test."

Though the timeline strongly suggests that James became exposed to the virus in Brazil, Anthony said that another scenario could have happened.

"I would say there's a possibility that it wasn't in Brazil. The timeline also fits where it could be Los Angeles," he said.

This is starting to sound just not very good(regarding the current social and emotional status of Darren James).

I'd be doing the same thing. I'd go into seclusion for about a week or so. Need time to reflect.

If this is true (since no one really is quoted by name in regards to what they find), then have they alerted the police to be looking for him? Not that they will find him but maybe something happened to him. Maybe he shot himself, maybe someone wisked him off to the Check republic against his will.

He probably doesn't want to talk to anybody in the business right now even his friends, until he clears his head. I wonder if he has been in contact with family members or friends outside the business I think they would have to get the ball rolling on any official missing persons report.

I think his friends/roommates could do it, not just family. You know, if he just took off to be with family, the cops would find him ok, and that would be it. No big thing.

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - West Coast Productions director Lee Goodwin, one of Darren James' close friends, told AVN.com late Monday that he spoke with James on the phone this morning for the first time since he was feared missing late last week.

James tested HIV-positive on April 12, the last time any of his closest friends had heard from him until today.

"He just called me to let me know he's OK," Goodwin said. "I was in the gym this morning when he gave me a call. He's down in San Diego. He had to lay low. He was very upset and just didn't want to face anyone. He's feeling OK."

Goodwin went into James' residence twice within the past few days looking for him – the first time with director/performer Mark Anthony and most recently with director Alexander DeVoe, he said.

"I saw the keys to both cars. The messages were filled. We just started thinking the worst," Goodwin said, adding that James' "favorite jacket" was also still there. "We just started getting nervous."

After the second try at James' place, Goodwin said he called James' mother and sister, who also had not heard from him.

Goodwin said that James "didn't give me any indication" when he would return to the Los Angeles area. He added that director Rick Davis, who was at the gym with Goodwin, also briefly spoke with James.

James was unavailable for comment.

Wouldn't it have been better off if he didn't say where he was? Let people know you're ok, but don't let people know where you're at.
