In the US AIDS really is still a gay disease. I'm not sure that's true anywhere else in the world.

It is gradually changing: 20% of all US AIDS cases now are attributed to heterosexual contact. But even here in most of the cases the infecting partner contracted their infection by shooting up or gay sex.

This is why I was skeptical of the HIV->AIDS hypothesis at first (a decade ago): it seemed hard to get such skewed infection stats from a virus.
