'Streetwise' is one of the more depressing movies I've seen. I realize this is because I'm more able to relate to these runaways more readily than say a child in Darfur and has nothing to do with atrocity magnitude. I admire films that conjure a palpable sense of hopelessness. It's been years since I've seen it but the one sequence that stands out for me is the young lesbian who bitchslaps a bum for grabbing her young hooker friend's tit and forces him to apologize. I seem to remember it was shot from above as on a roof in one taker but I could be wrong.
