honest guess? love 80's right about how w defined things in the original text having been sick enough to read it. kraut to chinese cal student often lacks in some precision-i've heard both "tends" and "approaches".



my guess is the latter term just makes linguistic sense-"tends" has a bit of an old-translation vibe.
when i still thought making myself miserable was fun and so was frege, language and era ended up being a PITA often.

that said, it drives me bananas whenever someone strays from the standard of what letter means what.
