This tops 'em all:

Lindsay Lohan's mom wins award as one of Long Island's top mothers

If the measure of a mom is her child's greatness, look no further than Long Island for the best in expert child rearing.

With Mother's Day just around the corner, the Mingling Moms Organization just released their 2008 Top 20 Long Island Mothers of Celebrities, whose famous - and some infamous - children include Lindsay Lohan, Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Portman, and even the Baldwin brothers.

"We thought assembling such a list would be a great tribute to the women who were behind the scenes of these superstars' tremendous careers," said Mingling Mom's President Erica Logiudice.

Tremendous, indeed. Though many on the list, such as fashion great Michael Kors' mother Joan Krystosek and music icon Billy Joel's mother Roslind Nyman, seem like natural winners, there is one who rightly may raise a few eyebrows.

Step forward, Dina Lohan. A “celebrity” in her own right, Dina has become known for her rather controversial parenting methods during wild-child Lindsay's legal and alcohol troubles last year. She has also received criticism for exploiting Lindsay's fame to further her own quest for the spotlight.

Another interesting addition to the list is Carol Baldwin, mother of the Baldwin boys. Certainly considered to have a tremendous career, her son Alec plays the ruthless and witty Jack Donaghy on NBC's successful sitcom "30 Rock." But the star's own parenting skills were under the microscope when he made headlines for verbally bashing his daughter via phone after a recording of the conversation was released to the public.

But for the most part, the Islanders on this year's list have made the world a better place in their own way. Marge Brinkley gave us supermodel Christie Brinkley. Music lovers have Patricia Vian to thank for diva songstress Mariah Carey. And Portia Patterson raised David Patterson, who helped clean up New York as the post-Spitzer sex scandal governor.
