Not Vic and TJ, at least not this time. American Hardcore...the film.
I caught this at the Valley Art Theater in Tempe, it's a great video history of the early hardcore movement in Orange Co. and L.A. Covers a lot of those great loud groups from 1981 and 1982 who took the loud guitar from metal, the speed from punk, and threw out the shitty glam and new wave crap. My listening habits still tend toward the West Coast: Black Flag, Channel 3, Minutemen, but the film covers the scene nationwide: Minor Threat, Bad Brains, COC, lots of great stuff. The shit was loud, fast, aggressive, and mean, and this film is full of it. Even if they did have to interview Black Flag throat H.R..
And how ironic that the Valley Art is down the street from Long Wong's bar, where the Meat Puppets sold out to cash in on the Gin Blossoms' gravy train.

Bad Brains not Black Flag. Was there any footage of the Adolescents in it?
(i) Henry Rollins was, to the best of my knowledge, in Black Flag, not Bad Brains yeah, I hoped someone would catch that. (ii) yes

The W to the D makes it as simple as ABC. If it ain't west coast punk it ain't music.

Watched it. Pretty good. Crammed as much as they could into 100 minutes pretty well.
Some important bands of the movement seemed to be missing:
-Bad Religion(some members were interviewed, but little said of the band itself), Social Distortion both formed in this era.
-Where the Hell were the Dead Kennedys? This actually shocked me that there almost zero mention of them.(the name is said in one part)
-The Misfits were also missing.
Good stuff overall. Maybe it will get people to read the excellent book of the same title(which goes into much more detail, and covers the bands more thoroughly). The movie kinda made me wish I would have been around to see my favorite music in it's glory days(I was only a baby then).
