I couldn't help but notice the similarities and nuances in said film to the porn industry/biz and those fucken freaks that post here.

I've tried a hundred times to like this movie, but it just doesn't do it for me. It's my brother's favorite, so I've watched multiple times with him, trying to get it. As advised, I've watched it stoned, I've watched it sober, and I never find it funny. I feel out of place not being a fan of the movie.

It's one of my favorites as well.
Holly, for whatever reason I've met many people who don't likt it. It truly is a "love it" or "get nothing out of it" kind of movie.
I once watched it with a bunch of friends, and at the end one of them said, "I feel stupider for having watched that movie."

Check it out Gia- bowling is a part of it but only a small part- like many of their flicks it is a mishmash of stuff from all directions. Don't like bowling either but i love the flick ( along with O Brother ) and most of their work.

I've seen a number of times and always end up with a different take. I haven't seen it in a couple of years, but my last observation was how no one in the movie was who they seemed to be. The Dude wasn't the Big Lebowski, the Big Lebowski wasn't rich, his wife was. John Goodman wasn't really Jewish, etc.

I didn't like it the first time I saw it either. As a fan of the Coen Brothers, I found the movie shallow compared to Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, etc. However, upon repeat viewings, I really learned to appreciate the multitude of great lines. This movie and "Dr. Strangelove" are definitely quotable: Jesus Quintana: What's this day of rest shit? What's this bullshit? I don't fuckin' care! It don't matter to Jesus. But you're not foolin' me, man. You might fool the fucks in the league office, but you don't fool Jesus. This bush league psyche-out stuff. Laughable, man - ha ha!
