Very bad news as reported from avn.com Darren James Diagnosed HIV-Positive By: Scott Ross 04-13-2004 VAN NUYS, Calif. - Darren James, a veteran performer who was signed to Evasive Angles, has been diagnosed as HIV-positive. The diagnosis was confirmed today. Records at the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) show that James' last negative test was on March 17, 2004. Prior to that, his last negative test was on Feb. 25, 2004. According to Dr. Sharon Mitchell, executive director of AIM, in between his last two test dates, "this male talent went to Brazil and worked non-condom. We have spoken with T.T. Boy, whose production company James worked for. "He has been very cooperative and has released the names of two women he has worked with either right before or right after the trip to Brazil. We will be releasing their names shortly and placing them in quarantine until they have cleared out after a thirty-day period," Mitchell said. James has also worked with two other women in the last week for another producer. Those names will be released shortly as well. This is the first time a veteran performer has been diagnosed HIV-positive since Tony Montana in 1999.

honestly, in my opinion.... from what i have read i think that this should finally serve as a sign to producers to stop shooting in foriegn countries where testing is not what it should be.

Heres more related news from avn.com AIM Quarantines Nine Performers in Effort to Contain HIV By: Scott Ross 04-13-2004 VAN NUYS, Calif. - As a result of Darren James HIV-positive diagnosis, the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) has compiled a quarantine list of nine first- and second-generation performers in an effort to prevent the spread of the virus. A first-generation partner is someone who has had sex with James recently. People who have had sex with a first-generation partner are considered second-generation partners. First-generation performers who have been notified of their quarantine status by AIM are as follows: Laura Cox, Carmen Real, Rhonda Richardson, Jessica D, Marrisa Arroyo, and Taylor Marie. There is also one first-generation performer, a Canadian female named Patricia, whose last name is not known. AIM has not been able to locate this performer who is not answering her cell phone. Patricia is working with Judy Starr and they both were staying at the Ramada Inn. She is possibly from Montreal or somewhere in Quebec as she speaks French. Anyone with information on Patricia should immediately call AIM. “Everyone has been very helpful, but obviously if anyone has any information about first generation partners, we’d really appreciate it,” Mitchell said. The only second-generation performers known at this time are Marc Anthony and T.T. Boy. “We’ve asked them and anyone else who has worked with anyone who has worked with Darren to please refrain from working in the community until the primary quarantine list has cleared out,” Mitchell said. Mitchell says that everyone should be out of quarantine by May 6 if all goes well, though most people on the list will have cleared even earlier.

One bit of good news: Quote:
According to Mitchell the date of James' last negative test was March 17 and before that was February 25. Mitchell said James had a pattern of testing every three weeks for the seven years that he's been performing in the industry.
This suggests to me that they've got good evidence his testing was real. But it also suggests that they need to investigate his contacts going back much farther, February at least.

the report on AVN kinda makes it seem like they are shrugging off the scondary list.... i pray they don't..... that would be highly irresponsible, and would only serve to provide more fuel for sick schmucks like Mike South who is gloting over this like its a victory.

VAN NUYS, Calif. - Twelve women are now known to have worked with Darren James, who has been diagnosed as HIV-positive, since his last negative test result. AIM is now focusing on establishing the second-generation, the people that have worked with the first-generation, the women that slept with James.
AIM's Dr. Sharon Mitchell says that Cherry Boxxx Pictures, the Red Light District, VCA and Playboy TV have declared a moratorium on production until the second- and possibly third-generation has been identified.
"Some people are taking the option not to shoot until the list is complete and I think that's a good idea," Mitchell told AVN.com.
The current list of women that have worked with James since his last negative test and are under a voluntary quarantine is as follows : Jocelyn (3/19/2004); Lauren Rox (3/24/04); Annie Cruz (3/29/2004); Vanesca, Persia, Ms. Arroyo (3/30/2004); Kayla Marie, Jessica D. (4/07/2004); Skyler Banks, Patrice Petite, Candy Ray, Desiree Clark (4/08/2004).
First-generation performers will wait until 30 days have passed since their scene with James, then take the PCR-DNA and RNA tests for HIV.

This was very reckless in my opinion. Assuming he was working with non-tested Brazilians, working without a bag down there is like playing Russian Roulette. It's one thing to put your own life on the line, but to return to LA and put others at risk is reprehensible. Even Extreme, known for being vehemently anti-condom, had their guys rubber-up when they shot in Brazil!
This guy's a fuckin scumbag!

Even the best lab technique can get a false negative by mislabeling samples, etc. I’d want to look back to the February test and see primary-contact performers with two negative tests, from two samples a month apart, tested at two different test labs.

that, and as skeeter said you can buy fake tests in Brazil for $10. honestly i think that if anything T.T. is responsible for this because he was IRRESPONSIBLE and went and shot in brazil without condoms...

and in reference to a question someone on here asked me in private. Mike South does not require tests for the guys doing his "southern bukkake". how can someone say so much shit about AIM and testing in La, and call everybody and their brother scumbags and then act surprised when you ask him if the guys are gonna be tested (kei almost did one for him when we lived down south ,before coming out here.... but cancelled when he told her he couldnt get all the guys tested, cause some of them just didnt want to!). i have kept quiet on this for a while, but after his recent GLOATING over somone, possibly several people being diaganosed with a deadly illness and not even reporting the facts, just snippetts that suit his needs i have lost ALL respect for him.

When working with Brazilian girls in Brazil their tests are going to be local, with results written in Portuguese. Who told Darren that what the results say? How could he check them with a Portuguese-speaking clerk at a clinic if he wanted to?
Trust caused the Dick’o’Death episode. Marc was an insider with at least a decade of tenure, not an outsider, not some new guy nobody knew, a guy with many longtime friends who wouldn’t imagine he’s knowingly fake tests (and many later suspected he knew his HIV status).
