There is a great Jessica Darlin scene in "Up the Whazoo Too" that perfectly illustrates this. She is obviously having trouble with the high heels, looks out of place in the hot pants, and sounds ridiculous trying to pull off lines such as "what is this outfit a little too ... provocative ... for you"? and "fuck.lunch!". It just adds to the anticipation that she isn't going to be up for the treatment she is about to receive.
