Actaually, the communications decency act exempts operators of an internet bullitin board from liability.

§230(c) (1) Treatment of publisher or speaker. No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.

Courts have construed the term “provider or user of an interactive computer service” broadly to include not only Internet service providers such as America Online and Prodigy, but also web hosting services, web site operators, listserv moderators, and online message board operators.
