Euro Bills Succumbing to Crystal Meth?

Investigators are looking into whether an impure batch of crystal methamphetamine is to be blamed for the mysteriously disintegrating euro notes. While some say no, authorities in Berlin are awaiting results "more profound."

Criminal investigators are following a new lead that could resolve the recent mystery of the disintegrating euro bills. And it may lead directly into the crystal meth lab.

Complaints of the mysteriously dissolving euro notes began accumulating in late October. An initial investigation revealed that "the destroyed bank notes came in contact with sulfuric acid, which led to the observed disintegration," the mass-circulation Bild newspaper reported on November 2. It is believed that the bills were somehow coated with a sulfur salt, which would have formed a potent acid in combination with perspiration from a person's hands, causing the bills to decompose.

But where did the sulfuric acid come from? In a recent twist, chemists are now speculating that it may have come from an impure batch of the synthetic drug crystal methamphetamine, also known as "crystal meth."

The timing would certainly fit. Whereas crystal meth has become a mainstay on the drug menu in the US, it has only recently become popular in Europe. Meaning bank notes, through which the powder is generally snorted, have been largely free from encountering the stuff.

And free from some of the impurities with which crystal meth is often cut. Authorities think that a batch of the stuff may have been stretched with sulfur salt, traces of which then found their way onto euro bills.. "This is a new lead for us," Rainer Wenzel at the criminal lab in Rhineland Palatinate said last week.

Wenzel and his colleagues have since backed away from the explanation. A Monday press release said that "even if the bills were contaminated by sulfates, their corrosion would still be unlikely."

Berlin, though, is hooked. Criminal investigators in the German capital are still chasing the sulfuric acid dragon and are awaiting their own lab results. Marcel Kuhlmey of the Office of Criminal Investigation in Berlin says they may be "more profound" than those of their colleagues in the Rhineland.

That's really bizarre... I'd be pissed if I got change from the grocery store, and then it started disintegrating.

No fucking mystery here...it's been a while since I posted a Meth Thread, and I have had some doozy conversations and revelations with friends in Law enforcement in Northern Cali, the Central Valley and in Northern Nevada. This drug is right up there with the Atom Bomb and Zyklon -B in Satan's list of greatest inventions.

People...this drug DISSOLVES your brain cells! It really truly does! The flood of Dopamine, which is TOXIC to brain cells in abnormally large quantities and essentially DISSOLVES your cells, is a fascinating yet scary effect.

I mean, have you ever seen a chronic crystal meth user? Sounds like someone didn't wash his product thoroughly with deionized water for fear of decreasing the percent yield. I've never made any illegal drugs, but I suppose my chem degree would qualify me to do so.

Yes... Everyone has come to a low point in their lives. I did hit rock bottom at one point... not too long ago. When my sister and I couldnt even have a normal convo without yelling at each other. I have since then quit. And since then, gained respect for back for myself. Lisa Marie did hit that point too... But is doing extreamly well.... we all use each other as support when times get hard.


And Gonzo Girl.... The rollerskating thing was for my good friends Bday. Someone known for drugs as well.... Yet that was his 5 week anniversary of being clan and sober. And decided to do something "normal people" do. So, yes, I did indeed looked pretty bad. But, my life has come back to me. Burg, I'm sorry for not being honest with you.
