WASHINGTON - Sen. George Allen, R-Va., this week donated a campaign contribution from disgraced Republican congressman Mark Foley to an anti-porn organization.

Allen donated $5,000 that was given to his campaign by Foley, to Enough is Enough, an anti-porn group headed by Donna Rice Hughes, the New York Daily News reported. She is known for her 1988 affair with then Democratic Sen. Gary Hart who was married and was ultimately forced to withdraw from the presidential race due to the scandal.

Allen, who is in a tight race against Democratic challenger Jim Webb, distanced himself from Foley by giving away the money to the group as a way to put the money to good use.

Foley abruptly resigned his post last week after it was revealed he had been sending sexually explicit instant messages and texts to teenage pages in Congress. Allen said he wanted to give the money to group because it is dedicated to making the Internet safe for children.

The former Ms. Rice publicly thanked Allen for his gesture.
