Since I saw my first 8MM porno way back when in 78 and since been hooked on and in the industry, I can't help but note that the girls just keep on getting better and better looking. Way back when, say the early 80's you only had a few real hot numbers who would get caught up in the whole adult film industry. Example Marie Sharp, Kandi Barbour, and a handful more of really attractive girls who would let these loser shoot a load on their pretty faces. Then in the mid eighties there was Ginger Lynn, Tracy Lords and quite a few more who let themselves be degraded on film and video. Today, there is so many really attractive beauties who will do anything with anybody anywhere! I mean everytime you look there is a new girl who you find yourself asking "Why the fuck is she doing this? She is beautiful and can have any man in the world!" I figure it is just a depravation of our society, Where things were so taboo 30 years ago are now just looked at as the norm. You used to be a runaway or a guys wife or daughter who owed the mob money when you saw an 8mm loop of a girl getting plowed six ways to Sunday on film. Now it is like the glamorous thing to do have a couple of bums reem your asshole into the next dimension and you are treated like royalty. Now it is not that I dont love this, don't get me wrong I think it is wonderful, It is just weird how what is acceptable today, was scowled and scorned upon not that long ago. Well that is all I have to day, just an observation.

It's the Jenna Thing. Porn is now quasi legitimate; it's seen as a form of show biz, a lower form albeit.

The replies in this thread are very interesting, but they skirt what I feel is the most important and unsettling aspect of the new pornography. That is the clearly uncoincidental rise of artifice-free sexual humiliation/degradation along with this more visually appealing and unending pool of disposable young female "talent". In the days of Taija Rae and her ilk, the trappings of stardom and performance were in full force, glamour really, a pornography which in retrospect clearly aspired to the "legitimacy" that others in this thread have attributed to the monstrous landscape of the new pornography---yet the talent pool was very narrow then and oftentimes unappealing. Now there is a juggernaut of Laura Palmers volunteering for sex acts on video that are demonstrably designed to destroy their individual human dignity for the pure sadistic spectacle of it, oftentimes in tandem with mocking of any notions of celebrity or stardom or glamour the young women may be flirting with in their decisions to appear. Why is this? It is the difference between a sex serial killer what preys on streetwalkers and one what preys on college girls. The first only inspires alarm after the body count reaches a level that makes it impossible for civilization to ignore the slaughter of its disposables, the second shakes the community to its core immediately before the first young woman's corpse has even cooled. Something very important is happening in the new pornography. I don't have the words to put a name to it. I doubt if words could suffice in any case. I imagine it will work itself out, however.

All those factors - the lessening of the taboo associated with performing in the industry, the proliferation of different means of accessing the product, allowing niche types to proliferate - have certainly contributed to the de-glamorization and increased abusiveness of the current industry.

I also think a lot of it is cyclical. The days of the great Taija Rae gave way to the dominance of Vivid Video and a number of attractive actresses who phoned in their sterile scenes (Savannah?). So there was a market for gonzo, or for sex that appeared real with real performers not just counting the number of positions left before the carefully-aimed pop shot.

But it has to be reaching a tipping point the other way. Max Hardcore is one thing, but that GagFactor.com slide show/ad playing on the right side of the screen is just nauseating. Is there really that big a market clamoring to see women vomit?

I think the novelty will soon wear off for most people. The occasional "yeah, suck that, bitch" is one thing, but making them lick it up off the floor crosses the line from erotic to revolting.

I know it's been shopped, but what is that liquid supposed to be? Chocolate milk?
