---------------------------- Why Some Whores Fail
I find this article to be condescending and pretentious. I also find it ironic (and telling) that an article written by someone claiming to want to help girls in the industry uses the word "whore" so liberally.
The simple fact is that the males in this industry, from the CEOs of the productions companies to the male talent down to the girl's suitcase pimp boyfriends, have absolutely no respect for the girls that put food on their table and the Mercedes in their four car garages.
Read websites like lukeford.com, industry forum like this, etc., and the words you read describing the female talent is never anything but derogatory... Slut, whore, cumdumpster and worse are commonly used.
So ask yourself; is this simply a matter of misogyny? The answer is no... it's a matter of power and control. The industry does everything it can to keep the female talent from being anything other than an interchangeable piece of meat. Why do you think many of the more mature pornstars with years in the business are being passed by for naive 18 year olds? Control, control, control.
The article hauls out that old chestnut of most pornstars being abused, molested or drug addicts. I'll admit that there is a certain amount of that in the adult industry, but I don't agree that it's as widespread as claimed. For the most part, I think that the girls getting into this industry are girls who really do enjoy sex, find the prospect of making money by fucking appealing, and come from a socioeconomic background that gives them a choice of making minimum wage or waitressing vs. making two or three thousand dollars a week.
But what eventually happens is that they do get burned out in the industry because they are coerced into more and more extreme acts... I spoke to a girl who had just filmed her first porn vid for a well known company. Being naive, she paid for her own flight to LA to do a five man gang-bang. Everything went well until time for the money shots when she was informed that she had to take all five loads in her mouth and swallow. She didn't want to do it and at first refused, but was told unless she did she wouldn't get paid, so she really didn't have much of a choice.
So it's not that these girls were abused as children... they're abused AFTER they gets into the industry. And the drug problem arises when they realize that for financial reasons they're trapped.
The article talks about EXCLUSIVE BRANDING, and places the blame on the girl herself for not having the sense to realize it and act on it. But the truth is that today it's next to impossible to achieve exclusive branding.
Consider this... Let's say Jenna Jameson was just starting out, and was only willing to do what she did when she really did get into the business: plain old G/G and B/G. Remember, at first she didn't do anal, didn't swallow, etc. I may be wrong, but I don't think she's EVER done a DP.
Now, a producer has a choice of hiring Jenna or another girl, maybe not as good looking but who will do DP, Double Vag, airtight, ATM and so on... who do you think is going to get hired? If Jenna had gotten into the business today, she'd be just another big titted blond pornstar.
Today, other than the big feature companies like Vivid and Wicked, the adult industry is designed to keep a girl from getting too big. Adult websites use fake names for the talent on their site, DVD credits make it difficult for you to identify any but the big name stars... and even if a girl is lucky enough to become the one in a thousand girls who become a contract star, the branding isn't hers, it's the production company's. It's ALL about power and control.
Isn't it funny that while the girls are referred to as sluts and whores, the industry has a problem with pornstars who choose to escort? Think about it... we all know it certainly isn't a moral judgement, so what reason could there be? Simple... a company loses control when a girl is making $10,000 or more a week by fucking her fans. She becomes less dependent on the industry for her income, and so isn't as easily manipulated. Now she has the power to say no when she's asked to work a 12 hour day and take two cocks up her ass or get throat-fucked until she pukes for a couple of grand.
What the article does, under the pretense of "enlightening" the girls in the adult industry, is spuriously place the blame squarely on them for not using their brains rather than examining the industry's role in intentionally striving to keep a girl from becoming an "EXCLUSIVE BRAND".
