Domi was forever linked with Bob Probert in the "Ali/Frazier" of the NHL.
Ali: Bob Probert, Red Wings. Probert, a Canadian citizen, actually got himself banned from entering Canada for 2 years after being convicted of trafficing cocaine in the mid-1980s.
Frazier: Tie Domi, New York Rangers. From the same hometown as Probert, led the NHL in fighting majors 5 years. After knocking a guy out, once tried to break his shoulder by dropping his knee WWF-style.
When Probert returned to Detroit to play in 1990, he had 2 eipc fights with Domi, both ironically at Madison Square Garden. In the first fight, Domi put a gash over Probert's eye which rendered him useles for the rest of the game. Domi was seen to be skating to the Sin Bin pretending to hold up a fighter's title belt. In the next meeting of the teams, Probert challenged Domi in the first 2 minutes of the game, and landed a series of punches which knocked Domi out, he passed out for 2 minutes. This time, as Domi skated past the Detroit bench under a linesman's assistance, the Red Wing's normally-reserved captain Steve Yzerman taunted Domi by making the same fight belt gesture. It literally was the Ali-Frazier of hockey.

You ever see the vid where Domi is being taunted by a fan, so he pour water on the fan. The pissed off nobody tries to reach for him over the glass but the glass breaks and he falls in to the box, on his ass all alone with Domi! Who then begins the feeding of fists.

I was watching that game. That fan was so drunk I doubt he had any idea what he'd done. A linesman was in the box immediately and the fan was swinging at the linesman too.

Domi took a couple of weak shots to get the fan off the linesman and slow him down but most definitely didn't land any hard shots. Domi has had some contemptible moments, but I have no complaint about his actions here. Come on, if Domi throws a hard punch at a drunk fan the fan isn't walking out of the penalty box...

It looked as though the fans had perhaps thrown some beer over the glass at Domi before he squirted some water at them.

Leave it to scummy Americans to neglect his career as a Maple Leaf entirely.

I loved going to hockey games and watching Sean Avery fight. My first game was The Kings vs. The Ducks...It was a pre season game after that strike. One of the best games ever. Blood all over the ice and The Kings actually won the game too. I think.

Nothing better than watching a live Hockey game at MSG!
