Umm no, he's always been pretty famous and well known down here in Australia for a long time. Just not the same hype as in the US, because to us he was too much of an aussie symbol for us to gawk and go crazy over. But we all loved and respected him. He did so much for conservation and alot for our country, it's a tragic way to go, such a huge loss. Down here everyone is in shock and crying. I don't think anyone really expected that his death would shake us up so much. His poor family
