Well I would just like to say that this is the worse news that I have heard! Well maybe Steve was not trained in stingrays beacause he was so smart! And also that is terrible about his son that I can not even imagine however everyone knows that you should not believe everything that you hear. Furthermore if it is tru then they should have made him stop however I really don't believe that. Well I would like to know if there is going to be donations that would nice if everyone did. Well I would like to donate but I do not make that much and my boss might cut my hours if they could find somebody else. Lastly wll they train his son since the show already came out?

Stingrays normally will stay away from you but I heard on the news that he actually dived into the water on top of the stingray when its tail pierced his heart. His wife was bush walking in Tasmania so it took a while before she was notified. Its funny how it happened only this morning yet already its news around the world and Australian TV is working on tribute shows to him. He has been well known in USA forover a decade but its only really been the last couple of years that he's been well known in Australia since he came back here to live

Umm no, he's always been pretty famous and well known down here in Australia for a long time. Just not the same hype as in the US, because to us he was too much of an aussie symbol for us to gawk and go crazy over. But we all loved and respected him. He did so much for conservation and alot for our country, it's a tragic way to go, such a huge loss. Down here everyone is in shock and crying. I don't think anyone really expected that his death would shake us up so much. His poor family

In a recent interview, Steve was asked about his childhood TV viewing. He said that while Thunderbirds was great, he always had a special place in his heart for Stingray.
(Sick humor aside, is anyone surprised by this? He had a habit of taking stupid risks with dangerous animals.)

I'm really trying to feel for the guy here.... (you know, here it comes)but... The guy fucked with dangerous animals for a living. I'd like to say this comes as a shock to me, but it's about as shocking as the sun rising in the east. His show was 98% Jerry Springer type entertainment* with animals and 2% educational with said animals. It is(was) a show about a guy doing stupid shit with wild animals, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Kind of like Roy Horn/Montecore the tiger incident. When you constanly fuck with wild animals bad shit usually follows.
P.S. I hope he had money for his family to live on after his death. Unlike the shotgun smoker John Dough.
* I'm not say Jerry is bad, I'm just saying that's what it was.

I guess it's like anyone working a dangerous job...fire fighters for example, they're running into burning buildings, yet we still feel terrible and alot of the time shocked when one of them perishes.
About money...he gave back so much. Most of the money he made he put straight back into wildlife. I'm sure his family will have enough to survive on though, I hope so anyway. I think the Discovery channel are setting up a charity fund for his children to help go towards their education.

Don't worry about money! They are multi multi millionaires. Where money has been put into wildlife and conservation the "Crocodile Hunter Corporation" profits from it. He has put a lot of money into acquiring heaps of land to use as wildlife reserves but he has retained ownership of the land
