BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The principal of the Bedford Hills Elementary School has been charged with one misdemeanor count of failing to report a suspected case of child abuse involving a 9-year-old girl who might have been raped.
Bedford police say 46-year-old Victoria Graboski turned herself in today and was released on her own recognizance.
Graboski and teachers Regina Smith and Jennifer Conte have already been placed on paid leave by the school.
Three more staff members at the school have been also been suspended with pay as the school district investigates the case. District officials have declined to say why they took these actions, or even if they were connected to the investigation of the reported rape of a nine-year-old girl.
But the police confirmed today that Graboski's arrest was connected to the little girl's case.
Bedford police are searching for a 27-year-old Bedford Hills laborer accused of raping the girl this month.
