NEW ROCHELLE — A city couple are accused of being pimps for a 14-year-old girl they met on the streets of Brooklyn, police said.
Christine Bocecchio, 27, and Jeff Cayot, 20, of 6 Webster Ave., Apartment B4, were charged with second-degree promoting prostitution, a felony, after police found the Brooklyn girl near Main Street and Webster Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, Capt. Joseph Schaller said.
The girl, a ward of New York City's Administration for Children's Services, had been working as a prostitute since she came to live with the couple in January after meeting them in "a public place" in Brooklyn, Schaller said.
Police are trying to find the girl's clients, he said. She lived with the suspects, but there was no sign that any other girls had lived there, too, he said.
The couple may have been forcing the girl into prostitution, he said. "They certainly were taking advantage of her, of her age," he said, adding that she also had been offered in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.
Her services were offered "through a telephone arrangement with potential johns," he said.
The couple are accused of taking more and more of her money as time went on, Schaller said.
"We believe there were dozens of times" that she was prostituted, he said.
The girl remained in the custody of the police yesterday as they attempted to find out who in the New York City agency is responsible for her.
"They're a big bureaucracy," he said. "Sometimes it takes a little longer."
