A girl who claims depression at the prospect of being alone and unloved because of her work, but can't join the dots and realise that the answer is to get out of it as soon as possible? A wife who was fucking other guys all the time, but then shocked to discover that her marriage is a sham? Yes, Del Toro is a scumbag, but ultimately it was her life decision to immerse herself in this world of scumbags. Only she can make the decision to get out.
So in summary, your re-enactment idea sounds good to me.
