I guess its just a generic term some people place on anything that happens to show a moving picture. Kinda like around where I live everybody calls any kind of soda a "coke", even if its, i don't know, a rootbeer or something. Some people call anything you can get over the counter to relieve a headache "Aspirin". I think you get the idea.
