Why the hell is the studio pushing this flick like it is? I know they must think the movie going public are morons and maybe they are but I really doubt this movie will make its money back so why waste more promoting the hell out of it?
I mean I am no elitist- i truely enjoy some bad movies but even if you paid for my ticket I would wait for the home version ( with remote control in hand). I could be wrong, I haven't seen it yet of course but usually this type of movie flys under the radar and then achieves cult status for it's nature.

You know what? Samuel L Jackson attached himself to this project because of the title. It's supposed to have 9-11 undertones but heres the catch:
The film is Hollywood execs making a bad film and watching consumers... consume it. I'm serious. You know that Ricky Bobby film thats currently number 1 in the country. Guess the story behind that one! It's supposed to be an insult to Southerners that love nascar. And you know why they're doing this? Because they have been doing it all along. How do you think any studio green lights a film with Nick Cannon?

The internet kind of took this film to new hights. Some writer in hollywood was originally offered the chance to script this(he accepted based on the title alone like SLJ) and he wrote about on his blog. It kind of took off from there. Say it with me Cleete(in your best SLJ voice)"There are motherfucking snakes on the motherfucking airplane!!" Yes this movie will be bad and it will rock my world.

Is this supposed to be a comedy? It almost appears to be an action movie but i really am not sure what the hell it is. A bad comedy can still make me laugh at points but a bad action flick makes me cringe.

From what I gather, Snakes did garner a certain ironic cachet on the internet like C-62 says, and why not? The premise is hilarious, it's almost what, "camp"?
You know the ingredients: Sam Jackson, copious use of the word "motherfucker/ing", dumbass flight attendant bimbos, whiteys who can't relate to Sam's loudness, and CGI snakes. I think it's a case of dare to be stupid, something Hollywood has been shoving down our throats a bit much lately. It'll make it's money back, who knows, maybe it's good and will become the new "Die Hard" type franchise. I digress . . .
By the way, I found Talladega Nights to be huuuugely disappointing. I mean, I want my $10 back kind of disappointing. I'm a Ferrell fan and all that, a Sacha Baron Cohen fan too, but whoever directed the film needs an asskicking.

The difference between Ricky Bobby and Snakes is in the marketing. Bobby, a comedy, was clearly aimed at fans of Nascar. The Nascar audience are predominantly Southern. The overall gist, that the studio was mocking the very folks it was targeting, seemed lost on them.
The other one, Snakes On A Plane, is being marketed as a campy action film. It's target audience, which is everyone and, potentially, no one, is already let in on the joke. With an absurd title like Snakes On A Plane, anyone who plunks down 10 dollars expecting cinematic greatness, is truly the idiot -- not the filmmaker.
As for Nick Cannon, Day Of The Dead is gonna be dope!

I'll probably see it, but on video though. I mean I'm the kind of guy who has movies like Evil Dead 2, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Silent Night, Deadly Night(and the sequel), Basket Case, Toxic Avenger, and the like in his non-porn DVD collection. Am I expecting it to be a be as brilliant as those classics? No, not at all, but it sure does look fun(not good, but FUN) for about an hour and a half.

If it's playing at the crappy theater in town and I can see it for like 4 dollars or so I'll go. Otherwise I'll have to pay 8 or 9 bucks and travel fifty miles to see it at a good theater, and that doesn't really sound worth it. If I can catch it in town, i'll try to see it this weekend and give you all an update.
