Hello TMonty. I couldn't help but notice that your avatar is German singing sensation Heino. Is that picture taken from the 1971 record Liebe Mutter? If it is, is this an indication that you have this record? Because it would seem I have searched high and low, and not found it.

Hello Loopnode, you're right. My avatar is from Heino's record "Liebe Mutter" but I don't own this record. I found the cover scan at some "Worst record covers ever" page but I don't remember the exact URL.
Greetings,
TMonty

Ah. You see that Heino record is in great demand here at the Children's Limbo. I'm spinning a supreme mega-mixx of groovy tracks and it just doesn't feel right without some 70's dampfnudeln.

I think Can was a pretty groovy German band...kinda an organic pre-techno jam band
Yeah, Can were very psychedlic, groovy, experimental and amongst the best of the Krautrock bands. Check out their history at Wikipedia.

My favourite album of the year (so far) ist J Dilla's "Donuts" by the late Jay Dee (RIP!). One of the finest instrumental hip hop albums you'll ever find.

Right now - in kick back mode - it's "Blood Money" by Tom Waits. But, when shooting picks up again on Monday, it'll prob be "L.A. Woman" by The Doors, or maybe even a touch of classic Ted Nugent (the girl in the front office was cranking "Free For All" at lunch, so maybe some of that. Maybe even some vintage Neil Young... Or even some old Johnny Cash... Awww fuck it.... I'm loading the ipod up.

Gabba Gabba Hey!
The last days I've been digging through my old vinyls and right now Eric B & Rakim's "Paid In Full" is in hot rotation on my record player. One of the classic east coast rap records from the 80s. Rakim is truly one of the best rappers ever. It's a pity that his record with Dr. Dre was cancelled...

Right now I'm listening to Reinbert de Leeuw play Satie. It's a double album. He is a perversely slow pianist, but with the Satie, this is correct. Especially the Gnosiennes. The Gnossiennes are short, spare circular piano pieces that god speaks to us through. Satie was not a jester. He was the mouthpiece of god.

That's a good choice. (I'm not a fan of their non-Syd Barret work...)
Right now I'm listening to Béla Bartók's Piano Concerto No. 2 - great stuff!

My buddy left his CD case over here, and it weighs about 20 lbos(no lie) so I figured I'd listen to some stuff I don't have. It's mostly punk stuff(of ALL varities), and alot of it is stuff I already own.

Yeah, I'm still mourning his loss. But what a way to go with such a magnificent album...
On another note: Has anyone gotten DJ Shadow's new album yet? I've only listened to some snippets which left me undecided if it's worth checking out.

Piero Umiliani - Svezia, inferno e paradiso
It's a soundtrack to an Italian Mondo movie featuring lots of swinging and jazzy tunes. Very nice! Mah na' mah na'...
Loopnode: You were right, DJ Shadow's new album sucks big time! Yesterday I visited a friend of mine who had just bought the album. We listened to it and were both severely disappointed. She'll put the album up on ebay as soon as possible...

TMonty: Piero Umiliani. Great great music. Check out Alberto Baldan Bembo too if you like the waa waa swing of Italian mondo musica.
I actually just finished putting together two compilations of 60s-70s Easy Listening musica which I stream on Internet Radio. I'm working on a German compo soon.

Thanks, I looked up Alberto Baldan Bembo at imdb.com and his credits sound very interesting. I will be looking for his records. Two recommendations for your German compilation: You can't go wrong with Peter Thomas (Raumpatrouille Orion) and Gert Wilden (Schulmädchen-Report). Great stuff to be found there...
PS: Please check your PM.

How funny you should mention Schulmädchen-Report. I got this not so long ago (perhaps 2 months ago) and had it on rotation quite a few times. Thomas? I can't imagine a German compo without him.
Posht!

D.I.-Team Goon
Ever seen the movie "Suburbia" about those kids who run away from home and live in a dilapidated old house in an abandoned neighborhood? Remember the scene in the punk club where the girl gets her dressed ripped off? Remember the band on stage, who was singing "Richard Hung Himself"? This is that band, and that song is on this release. Slayer covered the song on an album full of punk covers given a metal makeover, but it's probably not the same, you know?
