OK, I'm an old man. @stylah...The stuff you're posting. Norwegian Death Metal? Power Metal? I hate the classifications, but I have to admit I can't stand the stuff where the guy sings like the guy from Cannibal Corpse? And is it English?

Heh. Above stuff is not Norwegian (could have been, though) and most of it is black metal in some form. Lyrics are English or no lyrics at all; most of it is non-recognizable. But it ain't screaming like a pig at the abattoir (like CC).

Cadaveria and Stormlord are both Italian, both symphonic black metal.
Svart & Svarti Loghin are both Swedish, both depressive black metal.
Grimlair is French, also depressive black metal.
Brotherhood of Sleep is Greek, instrumental (funeral) doom. This is really brilliant stuff, some truly great riffs.

The last few years, a lot of good music is coming from Greece. Mostly depressive black metal, atmospheric black/gothic/doom metal.

I thought black metal was by definition depressive. (God knows any French black metal would certainly have to be.) It's not like you ever see Coca-Cola using it for any of their obnoxiuosly cheery advertising campaigns.

I'd love to see Dimmu Borger do a Coke ad. Or at least Lemmy.

Electric Wizard - Legalise Drugs & Murder

A German group called Moca. They are a nu jazz kind of band. Satisfies my craving for good lounge music since Combustible Edison disbanded several years ago. Both of their CDs: Tempomat and Wrooooooooam are really great.

If they ever make to Los Angeles, I would see every show they had. They wouldn't be popular enough here to play the Greek, but maybe the Wiltern or the El Rey so it would be an intimate experience.

Freestylah, we have similar taste in metal. How is the Burzum?

Belus is ok. Not as great as Filosofem, but better than the 1997 & 1999 releases.

Same distorted guitars, same atmospheric effects.

Definitely worth a try.

So, Freesy, in which format do you - I assume - download all these albums and do you care about audio quality?

Some are downloads, some are my own CDs, some are borrowed. I do care about audio quality. Downloads are preferably 320 kbps (or FLAC, if I really like an album). From time to time, I have to settle for less than that and a visit to the record shop is necessary. Some stuff is unavailable, except via download.

Fair. It is about the same with me. FLAC is what I would download if something could be interesting, but not necessarily want to pay for. Artists I like usually find their way into the CD collection with all their albums and some singles here and there.
Some say there is no difference between compressed and uncompressed music. I say people will never develop the ability to hear the difference if they run around like an advertisement and use their fruitily foul and shitty ear buds which came with their religion while listening to loudness-plagued mixes of compressed pop acts. I could be wrong though.

Is it possible to convert FLAC to burn to an audio CD? If someone were to want to do that?

If you convert the flac into whatever, you could then burn it, be it an mp3 or wav. The conversion software is "free", you'll have to buy it after 30 days or whatever (you don't, it'll remain free)

That is easily possible, Barry.
The idea behind FLAC would be that there is no loss in audio quality, thus what you end up with, a CD, should be about the same as the source CD. That is if there were no errors in reading, processing and burning the data from a flawless pressed copy.
Trying a freeware burning tool for Windows might do the trick or finding a cracked version of commercial software without added trojans, viruses and other malware. They are out there, a bit covert sometimes.

I'll try to just burn one in Windows Media Player like I do everything else. See if they'll just automatically convert like it does with mp3s.

That I did not try yet. Nero Burning ROM seemingly needed some additional plug-ins to burn some audio file to a CD once, to convert the file into CD audio, so to say. I think it was not necessary for every file of the same file type though and somewhat confusing.

Enthroned - Obsidium

Belgium black metal. This album sounds a bit like Carving out the eyes of god by Goatwhore. I like this.

I think the cover is unnecessary as metal fans probably know it.

I have been enjoying Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force quite a bit lately.

It's a pretty relaxed record for doing work/cooking to.

He came up here for a concert a long time ago and some asshole threw a full bottle of booze at him that smashed off the guitar right next to his hand. Lights on, show over. "Yahhhh. Inggvay has left da' stage!"

Steezo Yngwie is super cheesy like that. As far as I know his keyboard player usually carries the band because Yngwie is super drunk.

He is so cheesy he ALWAYS does an encore, no matter how many people are there and it's kind of a treat to see his hot euro wife hanging out in clubs.

The one time I saw him live he tried to spin his guitar around his body on the strap. He lost control and it flew into the sky. Yngwie was blinded by the stage lights and ran away so it didn't land on him.

He has his own Fender signature model so he pretty much has an infinite supply of guitars.

I got him elected as my high school class president by sheer publicity. Nobody else really campaigned and my friends and I made hand bills that showed Yngwie's crotch with the words "I shred". he won by a landslide and the administration had to hold a new election while making sure that everyone knew Yngwie was not a student.

Made my first Itunes purchase on my gay-ass new phone and got the best of DMX. It's great shadow-boxing music.
