Rummaging through my old old stuff in the loft above the house I grew up in, I found my Strawberry Switchblade cassettes and was lucky my brother still had an old Boom Box with cassette player to listen to them. Fuck I miss the 80s....

got a copy of the new Led Zepplin greatest hits....its off the fuckin hook.
I never understood why people buy greatest hits. If your a true fan, you would own all their cds anyway. Besides, greatest hits doesn't mean best songs on the album. Just some suits' interpretation of it. Im not a Zepplin fan, but I borrowed all the cds from a friend and made my own compilation of the songs I actually liked.
becase they add that one fucking new song or gimmick that die hards slit thier throat over.
fans always get screwed. especially on dvd box sets.
I have every 'friday the 13th' dvd, then they dropped a box set..that had a bonus disc that contained all kinds of good shit..fuckers.
I had been buying the addams family sets as they were coming out and sure as shit a box set comes out.
fuckers. fuckers all!

Took a day off, went music shopping: Devo: Duty Now For the Future Subhumans(UK): Internal Riot(Some of the old punk rock bands are putting out some pretty kick-ass stuff this year ) The Legend of Johnny Cash Vol. II Speaking of old punk bands, my buddy went to see Bad Brains at a RiotFest in Chicago this weekend. He claims the band seemed to be giving it their all, but their singer was being a complete and total dick on stage. He singing the songs wrong on purpose, if he was even singing at all, and spent the rest of his time onstage sitting on next to the drums with his arms folded and not doing anything as the band played. People were throwing garbage in his direction to show their disapproval.

I'll give the new AIC a listen, but the question I have is how much does Jerry Cantrell have left in him? The guy was coked the fuck out for so long I'm sure his skills have eroded. Fucker couldn't be bothered to look out for Layne, either. I guess I can't blame him, exactly, I think Layne was determined to go out like he did. I just don't want to hear any goddamned songs about heroin. I hate it when a perfectly good groove and melody is overlaid by lyrics about spoons or "chasing the dragon" and all of that bullshit (Kurt Weiland I'm looking at you). Know what I mean?

Go to this link: http://www.theperfumedgarden.blogspot.com/scroll down a bit to "Active Sessions" on the right-hand side... ...and you can download ZIP files of some very nice stuff... ...I recommend the 1979 PIL session and the 1974 Brian Eno session...

I could never get into his music. He's a great guitarist, but a shitty songwriter. I only like a handful of his songs. They were just excuses for him to solo all over.
In Yng's defense, I reckon he has a couple of decent song-orientated albums, provided you're into '80s metal. The Alcatrazz album he did is more in the Rainbow tradition than his later adventures. Of his Rising Force material, "Marching Out" is a solid metal record with some killer songs (plus it features Jeff Scott Soto, who is easily the best singer Malmsteen's ever had). "Trilogy" also has some great numbers, replete with Dio-ish fantasy lyrics. I'm not as interested in his material post '86. Patchy at best, plus his technique and sound changed for the worse. Usually one or two decent tunes per album, though. That video's worth a try - the band were promoting "Marching Out" so play all the good stuff from that plus 3/4 Alcatrazz numbers. "Focken'" Yngwie's on good form, too. Definitely his best recorded show for balancing time spent playing songs with time spent showboating.

Excellent choices. I thought I was the only death metal fan around here. I'm not alone.
Cool, thanks. Aye, I'm primarily into older stuff - the nastier the better. <- I dig this little guy's style.

Again, it sounds like an "Onion" article about misspelled "metal" bands, some of whose fans will posit bloody UFC fights in their signature and violently attack the English language!
I would say it's pretty short-sighted to attack metal on the grounds of language perversion. Rap/Hip-Hop and dance-orientated music are much worse offenders.
