Vomit Orchestra -- "Dante"

This is 15 minutes of bizarre experimental/ambient music.

I'm not sure that I will ever feel like listening to this EP again but I enjoyed it.

If you are into experimental/ dark ambient music check it out. Noteworthy is that it seems to be all analog instruments. Heavily distorted guitar and so on, not keyboards/synths/computers.

Also not sure if Dante is typical of their stuff, it's the only one I have.

Digital Underground -- "Sex Packets"

This is a fun, old rap/funk album. It's a concept album based on the idea of the "sex packet" which is drug that you take to pass out and live out your sexual fantasies realistically in your imagination/head. Pretty cool idea.

I'm trying to think of some commentary for this but all I can say is that the entire album relies on a kind of slow funky groove and I really like it.



It should be fairly obvious to most folks who follow what is going on here that I am not a rap fan. I like this stuff. (And Del but I posted about him before).

@Floofin: I am pretty sure Digital Underground's main guy Shock G (the guy who plays Humpty) is still active in music.

I think this can be blamed on "The Humpty Dance". Like they were expected to only do "novelty" type songs. If the Kingsmen showed up somewhere and didn't play "Louie Louie" nobody would stick around for their set. Same deal. They unintentionally "pigeon holed" themselves.

I thought that movie was awesome but apparently very few people shared my feelings. It's bizarre and creepy and funny.

Backdoorman, big kudos on that Wishbone Ash "Argus" LP. I have all WA vinyl and that one is their high-water mark, imho.
