do you have any sense of real numbers? why don't you try to come up with your figure of a little over ten billion for the american film industry? you won't, the numbers are easy to find and they ain't ten billion.

i think you'll find porn roughly equivalent to the indoor water-park industry in size.

i'll never cease to be amazed that the american public is afflicted with such innumeracy that a story like that seems credible.

Listening to Lu-e and others debate this non-topic is both fun and nauseating. Like Kami trying to open a checking account, porn and finance do not mix.

Ben is the type of moron who thinks Club Jenna sold for $35MM even though PLA just announced a restructuring that will kill its earnings for the whole year. The best overstatement of the sex business was the guy in the early '80s who claimed child porn was a $50B industry involving 10 million children annually, then was told by a consultant he hired that the douchebag had overstates his case by a hundred fold or so.

But can you blame them? This is the business where more A/R is collected with a baseball bat than a trade discount, where check bouncing and kiting is common (you think anyone in Porn Valley knows what a controlled disbursement account is?), and the local currency among the whores is a monetary unit called the "Gucci."
