addendum about the sales force-sales is the only white collar job requiring only social intelligence. my mom basically decides to hire someone for sales/brokerage based on how attractive they are and whether they're likable. some of them break a million a year doing it, but they're still employees that live and die by commision with marginal understanding of how the numbers and operation of what's going on. i don't get why you'd get a fancy mba and do sales, but the degree is starting to get meaningless and i decided if you can get a master's at night school in a subject i should probably find something different and ended up making more than the average dude out of wharton by the age i would have been applying.

ok, so i hate anyone that tries to sell things. i'm biased. but the internet means i can avoid interacting with people trying to sell me anything. there are way too few people actually making shit or doing shit in relation to people who market/sell shit or push paper in america right now. the longer i do this job, the more i'm convinced 15600 people actually do stuff that's indispensible and everyone else could quit and the country would run fine.
somewhere after we moved beyond the need for subsistence-farming on a daily, individual basis we fucked up and created more jobs to do when 33 men in kansas now can farm for the entire nation.
