My sister adopted an obscenely abused cat rescued by a vet friend -- permanently crushed rib cage, tail permanently bent in 2 places, only 3 teeth left after all his injuries/abuse.

"Mario" lived a the life of comfort for his remaining years with my sis -- pampered like a king the last 10 or so years of life.

Sounds like Noah is on his way to the same.
