I'm a huge fan of this photograph. The fact that it is not a photograph but is a freeze from a video makes it even more miraculous. Werner Herzog again but he said in a book of interviews with him I read that our age was starved because media junk elbows out the potent imagery that our ancient minds seek and crave. To my mind that image is the sort of thing Herzog is talking about. The dolts who captured it were clueless. It bubblked up as iuf on its own, declaring itself. Much in the same way what sonic incidents happened on a certain edition of 'Gag Factor'. I'm not an art student at all, but I'm sure the circumstances of these "works" with no authors have a school and a history and a terminology defining them. Increasingly in this sick and autopilot culture we make they are equvalents of crop circles of the Virgin Mother on buttered toast. Many see and hear, few heed, few understand.
