I remember watching one game during the world cup and the fans were lighting flares throughout the stadium. One of the commentators said "You don't see this kind of passion in American sports." I'm thinking to myself, thank fucking God. That's all I need. Go to a football game and some drunk assholes set off some flares burn some fellow spectators or even burn the stadium down, start a stampede and trample a few thousand people to death. Now that's passion.
