agree with Chico and Willie D, this is about the only time I really focus in on soccer... but Im actually more interested in hearing about some great tales of hooliganism...and again, if you have some spare time, go rent the movie "Football Factory"...any big movie rental store should have it...its a good watch about soccer hooligans in the UK.

The best football hooligan movie is 'The Firm' starring Gary Oldman (It's actually a TV show, but you can get it on DVD).
There's a major international football tournament coming up, and he decides to start a national firm (i.e., hooligan gang) comprising the very best club hooligans in England.
Obviously, there are disputes about who should be the top boy, so the rival firms attempt to one-up each other whenever their club sides meet...let's just say there are some nasty scenes with craft knives, and the violence is continually escalated throughout! 
By the way...Danny Dyer from 'The Football Factory' is currently presenting a show on TV over here called 'The Real Football Factories' which looks at real life hooligans.
It's not too bad if you like that kind of thing....
Best of luck Christian, but I get the feeling Monica's boys will win the game!

dude i am a big fan of "Hooligan Lit" "Among the Thugs" by Bill Buford and "Barmy Army" by Dougie Brimson are terrific reads. I have been trying to get "The Firm" for awhile but can only find it in a box set with other Alan Clarke films...Which i will prolly get because I am a huge Mike Leigh fan and see Clarke compared with him often. to me Hooliganism is the most interesting part of football(soccer) down in the tubestation at midnite->

Embrace's tune is actually the official English FA song...no one likes it though. Everyone is reverting to the classics like 'World In Motion', 'Vindaloo' and '3 Lions' instead.

As an Arsenal fan, I'm happy we've signed Rosicky before the World Cup, because his performance yesterday would undoubtedly have tagged a few more million on the price tag. I didn't think USA looked that bad (given the quality of the opposition they were up against), but given how strong Ghana looked against the Italians, I definitely think the US will do well to pick up a point from either of their remaining games.... Anyway, here's hoping Ms. Sweetheart was magnanimous in victory  !
