In the last several months I've been having movie watching shoved down my gullet because um, the BoyToy is a movie addict. So I've been doing a lot of catching up on movie watching. Last night, I went to the movies to see The DaVinci Code. It was pretty good. Although because I've been cursed by the pornography world, I could help but think of some pretty nasty sexual stuff of that actress Audrey Tautou. Good god is she friggin eye candy.

Just wondering if anyone else went out to see it and what you guys think?

You know this was all invented by a Frenchman named Pierre Plontard in the 1950s, right? And that as an arrogant Froggie, he decided that he was the sole living descendent on the dossier secrete? Remember France, the professional surrenderers?

Yes I'm aware. Although as a fiction movie, it wasn't bad. Just curious what others think.

I hate any book that's sold in airports. See Audrey T in Amelie if it's eye candy you want.

In general, I hate French people. I've made an exception for Melissa Lauren, Charlie DeGaulle, and Napoleon for letting us steal the Louisiana Territory for a song and a 6.5% mortgate from Barings Bank (now ING). Otherwise, their contribution to the world is by not depleting global soap supply.

I saw one of those groups interviews on CNN. Two seculars and two fundamentalists duked it out for 5 minutes while the token Catholic, a Jesuit priest, said nothing. Finally, the SJ chimes in, "If a movie with Ron Howard and Tom Hanks shakes your faith so profoundly, you need to go and see your confessor." Utter silence from the other talking heads.

I can watch a fiction movie without it affecting my relgious beliefs or thoughts for that matter. It's pure entertainment.

But yea, I felt the same way about French in general, Willie. I never had luck with any French that I met in the past and then I get cursed with a bitchen dude in the so-called "love" department who is a damn French LOL! It always works that way damn it!!

Thanks Gia, I'll find it and maybe masturbate LOL

I saw this movie today, and no I haven't read the book yet. I liked it, it's a slow burner if you know what I mean. As far as the religion and intrigues being real or not, I could take it or leave it. I'm just waiting on this world for my spaceship to pick me back up.

I'm Roman Catholic, not Opus Dei mind you , but I have no problem with the film. I liked the book and I liked the film although it was a little boring and a little too long. I wanted a little more adventure/action from the film. I think Angels and Demons was a much better book and I recommend it to everyone. It was far better than the Da Vinci Code IMO. And rumor has it that Tom Hanks may star in the prequel,Angels and Demons, if Sony Pictures picks it up.

Yea, two and a half hours was a bit too long. Especially when I've never been big on any fiction both books and movies. But I'm learning to have a little fun and just enjoy a damn fake story for whatever it's worth It was decent and the visuals were pleasing to my artistic eye.

I saw Tom Hanks briefly on television, some talk show or whatever and it looks as though on his left side underneath his chin he has a mass of something or another. You can only see it when he turns his head to the right. It's really weird. I don't recall that in previous years. And the man has aged really quick the last few years!! Kinda spooky!

The best thing Tom Hanks did was play drunken "Uncle Ned" on Family Ties...his embezzlement bit on Family Ties was funny as well.

Haven't yet seen the movie but read the book - generally poorly written but a topic I'm interested in (Knights Templar, Rosicrucians et al). The reviews of the movie have not been kind - sort of like Coochie Monster's reviews of Kami unkind.

Here's a reminder of Dan Brown's prose style:

"Almost inconceivably, the gun into which she was now staring was clutched in the pale hand of an enormous albino with long white hair."

edge of your seat stuff!

For those interested in the topic, another FICTIONAL work, that is a little more intellectually rigourous is Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum The characters take all the great conspiracies and feed them into a computer to create a super-conspiracy! There's also gunplay in churches and museums and feats of derring-do by the Knights Templar.

It's got lots of little puzzles and stuff too, only they're a lot harder to solve (well, for me anyway).

Enjoy

Buy it here!

Good Lord, can't he afford to hire a ghost writer who's taken an English class??? We get better writing than that on xxxpt.

I have not read the book and generally steer clear of this sort of thing, but that excerpt interests me. I think it's a fine sentence.

That book is literally filled with those kinds of sentences.

Agreed. Henry James could do no better.

The book was phenominal, the movie was The first MOVie I've ever seen where people dont actually MOVE. It's the history channel minus the cool graphics, videos, and shit. Don't waste you're time with this movie.

Saw it today... Meh.

It's more fun to watch Indiana Jones or Monty Python look for the Holy Grail.

Rent one of those DVDs instead.
