Weren't the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were an underground comic-book for years before they were made into a TV show? It must have been subversive cool or something like that, for I knew a guy who got "Donatello"(sp?) tattooed on his upper arm from the shoulder to the elbow. Not 2 years later it becomes a kids show and you know all the rest. This guy was the first person I ever knew who had a tattoo, and not surprisingly this cautionary tale was lodged into my brain for good. I remain ink free.
yeah, they had comic books out in the mid 80's. The TMNT arcade game was awesome...it was one of those big multi-player ones with 4 joy sticks.
Lord Krang was kick ass...he had that fucked up voice on the cartoon.
hell yeah, i remember the arcade game, that was mad fun. i also had a TMNT game on my family's commodore 64, but i struggled at it, possibly because i was only 5 when it came out.
Looks like the very same TMNT game from the NES. I played it like crazy but couldn't make it past MechaTurtle. I found an emulator at some point into adulthood, played again, beat Mechaturtle and then beat the Shredder. (all too easy if Donatello has sufficient health.)
I still remember the kick-ass 8-bit soundtrack from the jam-masters at Konami. (Ultra games was a division of Konami.)
