I'm not a medical expert, but I play one on XPT...it's probably a trade-off. My freshman chemistry prof was cool, but sadistic. He had this theory of losing weight by drinking cold water (body burns energy to raise the temperature of the water to 98.6F). He actually put this on the final. Turns out you need to drink like 160 gallons of nearly freezing water to lose 5 pounds. He also brought a keg to the final.
