It's all a huge political game which until recently was dominated by the NE congressmen (why is Chappy Ted so behind this?). Any Canuck with an IQ above room temerpature gets a temporary visa to buff-sand hockey sticks for a few years, but no one wants to let in Mario's abuela from Juarez to clean hotel rooms because it "might be taking someone else's job." They play the same charade about threatening to return any illegal immigrants to Cuba, until their milk carton hits Miami harbor, then all bets are off.

Yet at the same time, some of these people have sway they don't yet comprehend. I have a (legal) Mexican cleaning lady come in once a month, I pay her $40 and she works about 3 hours max. She also cleans 60 other units in my condo. She's a low cost provider with a captive market. In capitalism that's called bargaining power. Unfortunately, she looks nothing like the talent at Dirty Latin Maids.
