jrv I respect that you don't care if the national anthem is sung in spanish, but I do and if I go to a baseball game and they sing the national anthem in spanish that is the last fucking straw. I will become Timothy McVeigh part deux.
McVeigh made his bomb using ammonium nitrate fertilizer sensitized with diesel. Even aspiring McVeighs can't escape high petroleum prices.
With respect to JRV, I am increasingly thinking that oil futures are the new dotcoms, in spite of Chinese and Indian consumption and all other long term factors. The big price spikes always seem based on fears (ie. war with Iran) than actual decreases in supply.
I can't think of any consumer benefit that comes from having an essential inelastic good like oil in the futures market, so I'd like to see it removed from speculative markets. Can you think of any reasons for oil on the futures market, JRV? I'm quite open minded to another perspective.
