Nope. The phony sympathy from the rest of the world ended when the United States decided to treat terrorism as a military matter, rather than shrugging of 3,000 dead citizens as a matter for trial courts.
Any patriotic American would prefer a military option over any "solution" involving Osama's personal fellatrix Kofi Annan any day.

If you think Democrats care about Constitutional rights, ask any gun owner or look at which Supreme Court Judges voted for the Kelo decision.

I'm not sure if and to what degree you are joking, but I understand the sentiment. Gas prices suck and are a huge drag on the economy.
Don't we have a Transportation Secretary or an Energy Secretary who should have said something about now? This could be a great excuse to fire that idiot Norm Mineta who'd rather rape 9 year-old White girls with hand-held metal detectors than profile Muslims.

Some of the more recent right-wing terror plots listed in the Intelligence Project report include: May 20, 2005: Two New Jersey men, Craig Orler and Gabriel Garafa, who allegedly belong to neo-Nazi and skinhead groups, were charged with illegally selling to police informants guns and 60 pounds of urea to use in a bomb. Oct. 25, 2004: FBI agents in Tennessee arrested Demetrius "Van" Crocker after he allegedly tried to purchase ingredients for deadly sarin nerve gas and C-4 plastic explosives from an undercover agent. Crocker, who was involved with white supremacist groups, was charged with trying to get explosives to destroy a building and faces more than 20 years in prison. April 10, 2003: The FBI raided the home of William Krar, of Noonday, Texas, and discovered an arsenal of more than 500,000 rounds of ammunition, 65 pipe bombs and remote control briefcase bombs, and almost 2 pounds of sodium cyanide, enough to make a bomb that could kill everyone in a large building. Krar, reportedly associated with white supremacist groups, was sentenced to 11 years in prison for possession of a chemical weapon. but we dont hear much about these...we sure as hell hear about the so called "eco-terrorists" who receive a Life sentence for torching an SUV Dealership tho... Basically our government has been sold out to Corporate Lobbyists by the Repugs, I think that is wrongs...you seem to think that is okay...I have a cousin doing his 3rd goddamn tour in Iraq over this bullshit and he isnt okay by it...I see JM being harrased by the Society Police put in place by this bullshit enterprise as our National Debt climbs and our Dollar Falls...so when i go to Europe I am not only unsure about declaring myself an American but I can afford as much shit. I'm not sure that we need that sympathy. Useful perhaps, but not necessary.
The more important mistake is removing a counter-balance to Iran in the Middle East. Before you had Iraq to balance Iran and now there's really nothing, ensuring that the US will have to maintain major force in the area indefinitely (until the oil doesn't matter any more).
Another blunder is getting involved in what amounts to a two front war. North Korea has tried to take advantage of this at times. Fortunately there don't appear to be any other problems right away, but Somalia seems likely to be a problem again soon, and three fronts isn't going to work.
Oil prices might be a dollar or two less without so much public saber-rattling at Iran, but the reality is that oil prices are largely demand-driven at this point. As long as there are buyers for every barrel of oil produced, and buyers will pay these prices, then that's what sellers will demand.
Other problems are a lack of refining capacity in the US, government mandates for fuel blends that aren't widely available, and over-dependence on gasoline (most new foreign refineries are being set up to produce diesel, not gasoline).
