In the wake of the latest oil company profit report showing much higher earnings, President Bush on Friday rejected calls in Congress for a tax on oil company profits...
I'm not an economist so I may be way off base here but wouldn't taxing the oil companies be the last thing the President should do. The only thing that would result in is higher gas prices at the pump. The oil companies surely wouldn't let the higher taxes put a dent in their profits they would just pass it along to the consumer. How does raising taxes solve anything in this case? Our politicians, Dems in partiular, need to learn raising taxes insn't the answer to everything.
.
last august congress gave 2 billion in tax breaks to big oil.
so what did they do? they raised gas prices by a $1/gallon and created the most profitable quarters in the history of the oil industry, with no signs of slowing down.
all thanks to their man in the pocket..err uh whitehouse.
Question: hey Bush you fucking shady texas oil cowboy idiot, should we maybe oh i dunno rethink those taxes?
reply: Bush/oil--->
<--you
